In our previous HIS informational post we focused on the best practice of confirming the uploaded file was marked successfully completed rather than relying on upload accepted as completed status.

In addition to confirming that the submission is marked completed, there are certain severe yet common errors which will only appear in the CASPER Final Validation Reports.

Through the CASPER Reporting module there are 2 types of Final Validation Reports available:

  1. Hospice Final Validation Reports
  2. Submitter Final Validation Reports

The Hospice Final Validation Report is automatically created by the QIES Assessment Submission and Processing (ASAP) system upon successful completion of the submitted file. When a submission contains errors the QIES system cannot create a Hospice Final Validation Report. To identify these errors, you must request the Hospice Submitter Final Validation Report. The Hospice Final Validation Report is only generated if the file’s submission status is marked “Completed” and the Total Record Count is greater than zero.

There are some errors that are referred to as severe and common, such as an incorrect file format or an Invalid Fac_ID, Reviewing the Hospice Final Validation Reports and the Submitter Final Validation Reports are crucial best practices to ensure that HIS Submissions have been successfully uploaded, marked completed, and that errors are discovered and corrected.

For step by step instructions on how to run these reports, please refer to the  QUICK REFERENCE TO FINAL VALIDATION REPORTS.
